PTTEP FSO2
World’s First ABS-approved in-tank UT gauging for an FPSO/FSO performed by Mini-ROV. The UT scope was a part of a larger scope for Life Extension Engineering that Proceanic had been contracted by PTTEP Thailand to execute. We proposed the novel method of using Mini-ROVs to undertake in-tank UT gauging, eliminating any man-entry, working at heights or scaffolding requirements and very importantly, drastically reducing cost and time. The client was naturally interested but firstly, ABS had to approve.
Proceanic worked very closely with ABS’ Chief Surveyor in Houston of the techniques and methodology for in-tank UT gauging prior to granting a provisional approval supported by ABS Asia Pacific and ABS Thailand. In January 2014, our team completed the UT gauging of all the FSO’s ballast tanks and ABS signed off on all the readings. A new technique was born.
